Default Oricon: SR is the best wearing kimono!

Well, I posted this on my blog but I see it hasn't been posted here yet. Although it's stupid, an Oricon poll has chosen Shiina Ringo as the best female artist wearing the kimono:
  1. Shiina Ringo
  2. Koda Kumi
  3. Ayumi Hamasaki
  4. Mika Nakashima
  5. Fukuyama Masaharu

I can't believe that Koda Kumi and Ayumi Hamasaki ranked anywhere near as high as they did. Oh wait. I can believe it. They'd probably be among the top three for "Who would you like to see eating a corndog?", "Who would look the best with purple hair?", or "Who has the most talent?". Basically what I'm trying to say is that Koda Kumi and Ayumi Hamasaki have ridiculously large voting-majority fanbases in Japanese society who would automatically rank these women near the top, no matter how ridiculous the question was, or no matter how much these women don't fit the context of a perfectly reasonable question.

But as long as Shiina Ringo ranked ahead of them (even if barely), there may be hope for Japan after all.

Totally agreed. Both Ayu and Koda are ALWAYS featured on those ridiculous polls xD...

Yea, that means SR had to get tons of votes to out-do those two.

I agree with Glath as well. It's just stupid.
At least the result (aka number 1) is adequate and makes sense. You go Ringo!

I actually think that Oricon balanced things out, applying some common sense here and there lol. That's more likely than SR fans voting more than Ayumi or Koda fans.

See, its this stuff that makes it hard to take some artists seriously. Like if I was finding Shiina and was questioning whether she was "for real" (which I did when I was discovering her) and if I see a headline is "Oh, shes the best in a kimono" I wouldnt be particularly amused.

You would really have to be digging to find this poll so I don't think that many would be Shiina fans would come across it that easily, the Oricon 'beauty & healthy' site is not exactly the first stop for cutting edge Shiina news! I wonder if anyone actually voted in this poll or was it a case of the site Editor just making it up?

(everybody loves these kinds of polls even if they don't admit it)
