Default ’Densetsu’ Music

I’m trying to identify a genre of music. I think of it as the ’Densetsu’ style without knowing why. It might belong to the eighties or it might be traditional - I’m not sure. It’s the style of music they use for the Dragon Ball soundtrack. Also, Ringo no Uta was arranged in this style for EM (actually, the whole concert was probably influenced by it) I hear it in Jun Togawa’s work too.

Sorry for being so vague, but does anyone know what I might be talking about?

でんせつ 伝説 Densetsu
a tradition; a legend
〈民間伝承〉 folklore; a folk tale [story]

smells like chuunibyo(adolescent delusions).

I think it's not style of music but just someone labeled as "legend".

If someone called themselves as "legend", it is childish/rashness of youth.

Do you mean the Dragon Ball soundtrack that heavily features a pen-whistle flute?

I can't be more specific other than it's probably Kayokyoku, which is just a general term for Japanese modern folk music. Ringo no Uta (EM) would probably be considered it, as would about half of Jun Togawa's music.

Sorry for being confusing. Inseu’s got it with the second song. I even heard the word ’densetsu’ in there. What kind of music is that? 80s Jpop/rock with folk influences? Simply 80s anime music?

The song is Momoe Yamaguchi's Fenikkusu Densetsu (Legend of the Phoenix), so it's classic idol.

As for the musical style, I think it sounds like ABBA's pop mixed with enka and kayōkyoku, creating a kind of grandiose Japanese diva music. ;p

Ah, okay. What I think you are looking for is post-Peanuts Japanese pop music. During the time period, Japanese pop music was sliding away from kayokyoku into more a western-style pop. The ballads tended to be overdramatic and sweeping.
Look for late 70's/early 80's. Stuff like Pink Lady didn't have anything like this, but I remember the other idols tended to do this type of ballad. You may like Matsutoya Yumi. The ballads were kind of her thing.
