I've always thought of them as a blues/swing/jazz band, thye have a very big band sound, which is always good. It kind of invokes my thoughts of late forties music, almost.

Does anyone know of a good fansite? The only one I have found in English has been pretty closed down and only has a partial discog listing.. They are kind of obscure, so I'm happy other people here like them.

My favorite tracks are 'Kuchibashi ni Cherry', 'The Ruling Class', '(I love the sound of) Breaking Glass', 'Mr. Richman', 'rendezvous under the moonlight' and 'Nora Neko no Theme', off the top of my head. Thank goodness for Pistol Opera, or else I would have heard of them.
I have only found them through Youtube and"Mixi", the Japanese facebook. I love them! I want to buy an album but there are quite a few...difficult to choose... does anybody have a suggestion?
I like the fast songs best, but the Jazz-style is also nice at times.
the live "Kuchibashi ni Cherry" is brilliant:

Their first album Blue Speaker isn't very jazz, I would suggest Night Food, partly because it's my favorite (with awesome songs like Oibure inu no Serenade, Ashinaga no Salvadore, Sora no Lion*) and partly because Kuchibashi ni Cherry is in it. If you want to try the singles first (which are harder to find...Kuchibashi ni Cherry single is hard to find both because it's out of print and no one seems to have it in the internet, though admittedly my search was not very thorough.) I suggest Midnight Deja Vu: it has some pretty awesome lives.
I think imeem might not work if you don't have an account, so I hope this works for you. All of these are samples from Night Food except for the version of Oibure inu no serenade which is in the album but sounds different.

There is definitely a progression towards more Cornelius-sounding music. This song would be right at home on his First Question Award album.
Flipper's Guitar - Groove Tube

And this song sounds like something from Fantasma.
Flipper's Guitar - Aquamarine

Just saw them about 2 weeks ago, finally. First 20 minutes was just the worst choice of songs and after that it got really good. The first disc of their new best-of album really is a best-of and would be flawless if you cut one song.

Shiina ringo next month and after that I'd have seen my 3 of my 5 favorite japanese artists (ringo, wrapping and FPM). All thats left after that is Sakamoto and Mikio.

Love Ego Wrappin'. I first heard when I was getting my hair cut.. I thought it was UA.
Favourite song:
Michishio Romance
Ringo Rakka, (yes, RINGO. )
Tenkoku to shiroi Pierrot
Master Dog
Amai Kage

Went to the live in 2007 and it was awesome, although I was in the back.
