They don't resemble very much in terms of structure, but the beats are very familiar (that 1:10 to 1:27 part, in SG, for example).

The song reminds me of Smithy's factory at the end of Mario RPG. It's very cold and distant and it lacks emotion. It honestly makes me feel a little anxious when I'm listening to it. DO NOT LIKE

very interesting song, but there's something about it I quite don't like.
ALTHOUGHT there are a lot of single parts I love. The intro with her voice, and some melodies, but something doesn't feel right. In addition to that either my mp3s are crap(320kp/s), or the mastering ir horrible. Wouldn't surprise me.

do you mean a nails on a chalkboard type of feeling? Because I feel like there are some sounds in this song that I can't quite hear but it creates an uncomfortable feeling... like a sonic dissonance.
Actually, I can hear some of them- the high pitch Aozora noises at the beginning really bother me. |

Maybe she recorded subliminal messages on ultra-high frequencies and now we're ALL CURSED

I like it actually. It's a very busy song but in a good way. It kind of reminds me of what you would get if you threw KSK Yattsuke Shigoto, Hatsukoi Shoujo, and Doppelganger in a blender without the lid on. It's really all over the place. The melody line is awesome and I love how there's orchestra in this but it isn't overpowering. I'm loving the arrangement of this. The use of dissonance is great. It really gives you a feeling of anxiety and I think in that way it's a perfect teaser for the album. I feel like we're all on a rollercoaster ride at a theme park and we're slowly approaching the first drop. This song just keeps taking you higher and higher up until we can see the entire theme park. Then it gradually takes us up to a dark room and by the end of the song we're held in suspension at the top in the darkness, waiting for what the ride will be like. Now there's no going back. Has the queen returned? Too early to tell but she's certainly got us pumped!

For me it's the bass tone at the beginning and her tone of voice that's unnerving. Who was that 2ch "source" who described her voice as hard and "bone-like" (ahem)? And I'm seduced by that short "false" chorus before the real one. (Pretentiously put that in white in case it was any kind of spoiler for people who hadn't heard it...) Plus as an SR fan I feel tricked into singing "Entry Number One" before the piano chords go crazy (2:44). It doesn't remind me of any other SR song though.
The dissonance reminds me of what you often get when a dance producer remixes another song with samples not in the same key etc, and it's like SR has said "go crazy with that effect!" I'm convinced this is gonna settle into a piece of music that I really like, more than Ringo Catalogue. Sometimes it's hard to "get" an SR composition on the first day, but there's a lot to discuss isn't there! edit: This must be what it's like for the other people I've played the Expo Yokushitsu video to. What, the...? (and the knife)...? Too dense to take in in one go (or 10, my play count) Last edited by so_cold : 2009.05.26 at 01:08 PM. |

Thanks Shinji. I could only listen to the Youtube one at the moment... can't wait until I get home to hear the HQ version.
It's an interesting song. Is this supposed to be analogous to Ringo Catalogue? Like sort of a mix-mash of the upcoming album set with a different melodic line? If so, that would explain the song being a bit busy. Taken as such, the song is pretty cool. |

So, I heard SG just the once in LQ-seeing as I bought it with money I don't have, I'd much rather wait to hear it extensively when my copy comes in. Either way, I haven't been dying over it, but I know for a fact that it'll grow on me when I hear it off the CD. All in all, it sounds like a mix between SS and KZK, but with a modern SR twist. It's definitely upped my hopes for the album<3
